Raise Your Hand at the Budget Forum - header

On February 18, we hosted families, staff, partners, and community members at our Community Budget Forum about Fiscal Year 2026-2027 at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School. HPS Superintendent and CEO, Dr. Andraé Townsel and CFO Caitlin Richard presented the budget scenario for our next fiscal year that you can see in the slides below. We also invited the HPS community to participate in advocacy and give testimony at state committees, and to participate in the HPS “Raise Your Hand” advocacy campaign, including signing postcards in support of public education. Learn how you can participate here.

During the next few months, as we collaborate with you on next year’s budget, we’ll be sharing quick questions, or flash polls, with you via ParentSquare to gather your feedback about what you value about your educational experience at HPS and what can be improved. We are grateful to so many of you who have already responded to our secure and anonymous Community Pulse polls over the last couple of months.

The future of Hartford Public Schools is built within our community — and that starts with listening to what matters the most to you, your family, and your school community.
